VIOLENT MAE

dynamic emotive low rock

BIO

VIOLENT MAE is dynamic and emotive low rock by songwriter, singer, and guitarist Becky Camille Kessler, and producer and multi-instrumentalist Floyd Kellogg. Together, they create a striking sound with severity and lasting relevance that resonates deeply with listeners.

Becky Camille came from a musical family and discovered her passion for songwriting through the guitar. She moved to Connecticut from North Carolina to live and work on a friend’s organic farm, where she realized ripe conditions to write and perform. She won best singer-songwriter in the first annual CT music awards and with Floyd, has since received praise from Paste, Mother Jones, Sub Pop, and NPR.

VIOLENT MAE released a self-titled full-length debut record at the end of 2013. Paste listed VIOLENT MAE as one of 10 Connecticut bands you should listen to now and The Deli Magazine named the duo one of New England’s Top Ten Emerging Artists. They toured nationally, playing alongside acts such as Nels Cline, Courtney Barnett, Jessica Lea Mayfield, Cymbals Eat Guitars, and Big Thief. VIOLENT MAE recorded and produced a second LP, Kid, in 2015, funded entirely through Kickstarter where their campaign was featured among the staff picks. Their music appears on multiple TV series including, Shrill, Nancy Drew, and Wynonna Earp. VIOLENT MAE performed at CMJ, NXNE, Mustang Music Festival, and recorded live at Daytrotter, and Converse Rubber Tracks. They are currently recording and producing a third LP for release in the winter of 2026.
